When my fingers turn blue from the 40-degree weather that’s been haunting Chicago, only one thing can save the day since I don’t want to break out the Northface monstrosities that only accompany below-zero windchills. My pick for the season are simple wool and acrylic gloves, in lighter colors and with extra detail, that are ideal for the in-between temperatures. Anthropologie offers styles that are enticingly girlish and romantic. Their styles have twists, folds, ribbons, beads, and everything sugar and spice. Free People, on the other hands, has a wider variety that tends to be edgier. My personal favorite has military-inspired brass buttons that juxtapose perfectly with a demure purple shade. The hardest part about this will be trying to decide on which pair to pair.

November 14 is on par with the apocalypse. Why, you ask? Because Jimmy Choo’s capsule collection for H&M is debuting in select stores in the USA and I understand that this is a run-on sentence but it’s the only way I can convey my excitement. This is caffeine for your feet. Autumn is here, snow is (just about) here, so what better reason to shake off your boots and pull on some strappy pumps than Jimmy Choo on the cheap? We’re talking animal print here! And RED PATENT LEATHER. I have my eye on the zebra striped pumps, which will work with only a handful of things in my closet. I don’t care. I’ll wear them in the shower if necessary. Apparently (and naturally), demand is high for this collection, so I suggest you show up with a whistle, water bottles, trail mix, and an iron-clad grip so that no one grabs your new kicks.
All I want to do is be a ballerina again. Not to learn how to stay on pointe, just so I can have all those amazing and outrageous tutus. This season I am on the hunt for a wearable tutu. I don’t want to use it as an under garment, like a petticoat. I want a not see-through tutu skirt , in a neutral color, that I can pair with cashmere sweaters, structured blazers and booties to create a texturific outfit. (A color one might look like I’m wearing a Halloween costume throughout the year.) The inspiration first came from the opening credits to Sex and the City, where she sports a $5 vintage tutu, but has recently returned because of all the voluminous skirts in the stores. So be on the hunt for me and for you! Be a ballerina again and show your playful side. If I don’t find one soon, I just might have to resort to making my own!
I have no idea how I missed this. I am ashamed of myself but oh so pleased that in the midst of avoiding my French homework, I decided to explore the new buys at Topshop. Which pieces of his capsule collection would I like to purchase? ALL OF IT. I love that he plays with embellishments on simpler cuts, and relies on eyelet, mirrors, and mesh to lend some edge. The eyelet mirror hoodie is stellar, and would look perfect thrown over a simple dark tee and paired with skinny jeans and my favorite navy knee-high boots. The croc tee is what gets me, though. I would wear that to class, to the library, and to brush my teeth; I could pair it with a prissy little skirt and ankle boots. Bank account, prepare to take a very large hit for what might be one of my favorite capsules this fall.. that is, until the Jimmy Choo for H&M line debuts in November.
