Phew! Well we are fresh off of fashion week (spring 2009 already!) and there is just so much to report. Take a look at a few of my shaky pics from the sidelines of Rachel Roy, Tracy Reese and Angel Sanchez. Here is a little list of the best trends from the runway and how you can bring them to life and not blow your allowance:
Home of Phobia (aka Freshman Orientation) movie download 1. Jumpsuits- Okay, not everyone will be down with this not-so-new look, but I am fully confident that you birdies will embrace it with open arms. The great thing about this trend is that you can get it at EVERY price point and use it for ANY occasion. Case in point, our beloved Kira Plastinina (see blog from earlier in the year) has an adorable light blue, cotton jumpsuit that she will no doubt bring back for spring. But for those that are fancier at heart you can grab a simple black one from ADAM by Adam Lippes (a bit more expensive) or the lovely cream number from Rachel Roy and be perfectly casual at any affair.
The Dark Lurking psp 2. Pajamas- We are not talking about your Spongebob Squarepants onesie that you sport around the house …Come spring it is all about the elegant pajama for hitting the town. But rather than investing your tuition in a lovely look from Derek Lam or Peter Som, get inventive and scope some interesting finds. I personally love heading to Chinatown and grabbing a pair of silk jammies for a little more than the cost of takeout. Wear the entire look with a nice tank or an interesting statement necklace and you are instantly a fashion force to be reckoned with. For the less daring, pair a silk pj top with a great fitted jean and accessorize until you are blue in the face.
3.The Harem Pant- Some of you might be too young to remember the days of MC Hammer and proclaiming to everyone who would listen that they “can’t touch this”…but fashion always has a way of reminding us of our musical past. The Harem pant, for those of you who think I am crazy, is like any pant…but with a bit more material in between the legs. It sounds gross, but it looks great! Everyone will be doing some version of this so stay tuned for the best in our price range. I am already jonesing for the ones by Tibi.
Going to shows and zipping about town is quite the treat, let me say. But bringing the gospel of all things cute to our birdies is the best part of it all! If you need more info to curb your fashion cravings, take a look at www.style.com or www.elle.com for the complete shows.
